The Open Door is an evangelistic ministry in Midland County that strives to carry on the mission of Jesus Christ. During his ministry on earth Jesus fed the hungry, ministered to the poor and outcasts of society, healed the sick, and set people free. He met their physical and spiritual needs. At the Open Door, we carry on this ministry as He guides us. The Open Door operates crisis shelters for men and women, and a soup kitchen and coffee house near downtown Midland, Michigan. We are also active in coordinating a Midland County jail ministry, including conducting worship services and visitation.

The Open Door is organized as a non-profit corporation, managed by a volunteer board of directors. The men and women's facilities are both staffed by trained volunteer resident advisors.  We are also blessed with a team of volunteers who serve in the soup kitchen, lead bible studies, minister to people who drop in, visit jail and prison inmates, and pray for the ministries.

Our financial support comes from local individuals and churches. Local foundations have also helped us with large projects. Many civic organizations, businesses, agencies, individuals and churches make significant donations of food on a regular basis. Your participation in volunteering, prayer, food donation or financial contributions are all welcome!
